A THIRD rape investigation has been launched in Southampton making it the third report in just one week.

Yesterday, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape after reports of an incident at a Southampton hotel.

A large police presence was seen outside the Premier Inn in Cumberland Place, and officers say they are currently making enquiries following an incident involving an adult woman.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape, and police have stressed there is no wider risk to the public.

It comes after two other separate incidents were reported this week.

On March 9 a man was charged with rape, assault by penetration and sexual assault after police were called to an address in Bevois on Monday, March 7, after a woman in her 20s was reportedly raped.

On Tuesday, March 8, an 18-year-old girl reported a rape at Riverside Park at around 11.30pm.

A police cordon was put in place within the park as police carried out their investigations.

Two people were arrested.
