A MAN in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after an incident in a Hampshire shopping centre.

Police say they were called to High Street, Winchester, earlier today to deal with an incident involving a number of people.

Officers have thanked Winchester BID Town Rangers for the help.

Winchester Cops posted: "Winchester City Neighbourhood Team were only on duty for a matter of minutes when a call was received about an incident on the High Street.

"You may have seen a number of our officers on the High Street this afternoon dealing with an incident involving a number of people.

"Officers have arrested a male in his 60s for robbery - he remains in custody at this time. We would like to thank the Winchester BID Town Rangers for their assistance in dealing with this matter.

"The team are on duty until midnight tonight so will continue to carry out enquiries into this matter.

"Have a great Friday everyone, stay safe!"
