PLANS to turn a Southampton B&B into a family home have been given the go-ahead.

Southampton City Council has approved an application relating to the eight-bedroom Fenland Guest House in Hill Lane.

The application to convert the Victorian property did not result in any letters of objection.

A council report said: "The conversion of the property to a single dwelling will not give rise to any noise and disturbance concerns for the nearby residential uses.

"Limited alteration to the existing property is required to facilitate the proposed development.

"There are no changes to the layout of the upper floor fenestration that would result in any greater level of overlooking than currently exists.

"The proposed development involves a change of use from a hotel to a family home.

No alterations to the building footprint are proposed. As such there is no requirement for any archaeological conditions to be attached to any planning consent."
