A SCHOOLGIRL was rushed to University Hospital Southampton after suffering serious injuries in an accident.
The emergency services were called to Newgate Lane, Fareham, at 4pm yesterday following reports of a collision involving a car and a cyclist.
A 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital with what were described as "serious but not life-threatening" injuries.
It happened on a flyover that carries the northern end of Newgate Lane over the A32 Gosport Road.
Speaking shortly after the crash a police spokesman said road closures had been put in place between Newgate Lane and Palmerston Drive.
The closures caused severe delays on the Peel Common Roundabout. At one point traffic was also said to be queuing back to junction 11 on the M27.
Today, police said inquiries into the incident were "ongoing".
