WORK is due to take place to address a sinkhole in Southampton after problems with refuse collection since the road was shut.
Kent Road in Portswood has been closed for weeks after an urgent subsidence investigation was launched.
A barrier was set up around a hole in the centre of the street after reports from residents that the road was moving when vehicles passed over it.
But now work is scheduled to start on July 18 to check the extent of the void below the road with special CCTV cameras.
The work was delayed due to difficulties acquiring the correct equipment which has seen problems with refuse collection in the area.
Portswood councillor, John Savage, said in a Facebook post that the council's highways team is aware of the problem and will be working to ensure waste can be collected as usual.
He added that he doesn't have a date for the collection of backlog refuse.
He said: "Following concerns about delays to the repair of the void under Kent Rd, council officers reported that there was a delay in the supply chain for the specialist CCTV needed to check out the extent of the void and make sure that any repairs are safe and longlasting.

"They also confirmed that they are aware of concerns about a similar problem at the entrance to Kent road but the investigations were carried out in recent weeks and these are being analysed to ensure that section of road is also safe.
"Highways apologised for the delay and have said that they are writing to local residents to keep them fully informed."
