A SOUTHAMPTON man who committed a spate of offences has been jailed for a total of 32 weeks.

Kyle Mark McGailey, 23, of Cranbury Avenue, appeared at the city's magistrates court.

McGailey admitted damaging the rear cage of a British Transport Police van at Southern Road, Southampton, on July 31 and was jailed for two weeks.

The defendant also admitted assaulting a police officer on the same date. He was jailed for ten weeks as well as being ordered to pay his victim £50 compensation.

Magistrates also activated suspended prison sentences that had been imposed for five assaults McGailey committed at Eastleigh on January 1 this year.

The offences occurred at Cable Street, O'Connell Road and Passfield Avenue. Two of his victims were police officers.

The sentences, which ranged from two to six weeks, will be served consecutively.
