SOUTHAMPTON FC is seeking consent to operate three outdoor bars at St Mary's Stadium on match days.

If the club's licensing application is approved by the city council, the bars will be situated in various parts of the car park at the stadium in Britannia Road.

Each one will be monitored by at least one steward and one security officer with Security Industry Authority (SIA) qualifications.

"The club will ensure that on each new bar there will be at least one steward and one security personnel that is SIA qualified.

"The club would like to start this, subject to approval, on 13 August 2022, which is its first home game."

The application says the club will work with police if any concerns are raised about the bars and the proposed opening hours.

It adds: "Should the club wish to open the bars for events other than a match day the work will work in consultation with the Safety Advisory Group on obtaining any approvals in that regard.

"The outside bars' opening times on match days will be entirely dependent on kick-off times, but the intention would be to open them for a reasonable period of time before and after the match."
