DISRUPTION to train services continues despite rail strikes being called off.

Commuters have been urged to only travel "if absolutely necessary" as South Western Railway services could not be reinstated.

Rail strikes were due to take place today until November 11 but they have been called off.

Despite this, services are still disrupted with SWR claiming it was "too late" to rectify the timetable.

A spokesperson from SWR said: "Only travel if absolutely necessary today. We are working through options for what we can reinstate on subsequent days and will provide updates as soon as possible.

"Unfortunately, we have limited ability to change our timetable at such short notice. Check before you travel."

SWR said that services could not be reinstated because timetables are "meticulously planned to ensure trains can run safely and efficiently".

They said: "Unfortunately, given these strikes were called off at the last minute, it is impossible to change plans at short notice."
