An investigation into an incident that saw a lollipop lady nearly hit by a car has been filed, say police.

The woman was helping schoolchildren cross the road on a zebra crossing when the car ploughed into her stick.

She was uninjured but police launched an investigation into the incident, which happened on the afternoon of Friday, January 13.

The pause in proceedings comes as no new information has been brought to the attention of officers.

The force confirmed that any further or new information will reopen the case.

However, Hampshire County Council is investigating the matter themselves.

As part of this they are working closely with the police and evidence will be gathered and considered.

Only a month before this, a woman was knocked down by two cars at the same crossing.

Care worker Jackie Carrington suffered a fracture to her left hand and is now reluctant to use the crossing.

She told the Echo: “Cars do not seem to recognise that they should stop, and at the moment, they speed past the zebra crossing.

“I would like a pedestrian crossing on this road.”

Police are continuing to investigate this incident, although there are no updates.

A petition has since been launched to help combat the issues at the crossing.

It has since received over 1,000 signatures.
