A VIDEO game store in the Marlands shopping centre has closed down after nearly a decade.

The Loft Ladder had become a staple in the community, providing a collection of video games, comic books and vinyl records.

But after 10 years in business, the shop shut its doors for good yesterday.

On Facebook, the company said its unit has been taken over by another company. 

A spokesperson said: "It's official, we are closing.

"It is with great regret and sadness that the wonderful concept of The Loft Ladder community shop is coming to an end.

"I would like to thank all our wonderful customers, who make every day, an exciting, interesting, and colourful place for us to work in.

"So thank you very much, everyone. We have enjoyed the last 10 years."

The company says it is still hoping to relocate within the city centre.
