THE most dangerous parts of Hampshire have been named as statistics show where the majority of crimes are being reported across the county.
Figures from the website CrimeRate.co.uk show Southampton was the most crime-ridden area in the county last year, followed by Portsmouth and Eastleigh.
Last year 36,161 offences were reported in Southampton alone.
CrimeRate says: "The overall crime rate was 134 crimes per 1,000 people. This compares poorly to Hampshire's overall crime rate, coming in 58 per cent higher than the rate of 85 per 1,000 residents.
"The most common crimes in Southampton are violence and sexual offences, with 16,065 offences during 2022. This is six per cent higher than 2021's figure of 15,165."

CrimeRate describes Eastleigh as the most dangerous medium-sized town in Hampshire.
"The overall crime rate in Eastleigh in 2022 was 112 crimes per 1,000 people. This compares poorly to Hampshire's overall crime rate, coming in 32 per cent higher than the rate of 85 per 1,000 residents.
"The most common crimes in Eastleigh are violence and sexual offences, with 1,392 offences during 2022. This is 2.2 per cent higher than 2021's figure of 1,362."
At the other end of the scale, Fareham is the safest town in the county - despite seeing 6,701 crimes.
CrimeRate says: "The overall crime rate in Fareham in 2022 was 58 crimes per 1,000 people. This compares favourably to Hampshire's overall crime rate, coming in 32 per cent lower than the rate of 85 per 1,000 residents."

Totton is described as the second safest medium-sized town in the county - despite recording 2,328 crimes.
CrimeRate says: "The overall crime rate in Totton and Eling in 2022 was 78 crimes per 1,000 people. This compares favourably to Hampshire's overall crime rate, coming in eight per cent lower.
Summing up CrimeRate says: "Hampshire is among the top 20 most dangerous counties in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
"The overall crime rate in 2022 was 85 crimes per 1,000 people, and the most common crimes were violence and sexual offences, which happened to roughly every 39 out of 1,000 residents.
"Out of all of Hampshire's larger towns and cities, Southampton is the most dangerous."
In 2022 Hampshire as a whole saw 72,264 crimes involving violence and sexual offences.
This was followed by incidents of anti-social behaviour (21,164), public disorder (19,081) and criminal damage (14,435). Other categories included vehicle crime (10,317) and shoplifting (8,346).
