THREE cuddly cats looking for a loving home are struggling to find one because two of them have lost an eye.
Harmony, Melody, and Dennis have spent more than 100 days in the care of the Gosport branch of Cats Protection after being repeatedly passed over by potential new owners.
The two one-eyed cats are Harmony and Dennis.
Hopes they would appeal to people looking to give an unlucky puss a new home have repeatedly been dashed. Harmony has bonded with Melody and Cats Protection is reluctant to separate the pair, which means all three are looking for a new owner.
Branch coordinator Kate Stapleford said Harmony and Dennis both had pre-existing eye conditions when they arrived.
"Dennis's left eye was removed because of a deep-seated ulcer and Harmony's right eye was likely to have developed problems over time which, very sadly, were never treated."
Dennis and another unneutered cat were found living in a Gosport garden.
The person who discovered the animals fed and cared for them until Cats Protection had foster space available. The other cat was quickly adopted, but Dennis is still waiting.
A Cats Protection spokesperson said: "He's very affectionate and known for nudging his fosterer’s hand if he feels he is not receiving an appropriate amount of fuss.
"He will fit in well with an adult home or one with older children where he can be an only pet.
"Harmony and Melody are just eight months old and would be best suited to a home together where they can be the only pets. They were part of a litter the owner was unable to home.
"It's likely Harmony was in considerable pain before her eye was treated.
"The branch worked with the owner to ensure the mother cat was healthy and neutered so that she would not have any more unexpected kittens.
"The playful duo haven't let their early experiences hold them back. Melody loves nothing more than playing with ball-toys while Harmony prefers to be showered with affection.
"A garden would give them plenty of space to explore and burn off some of their kitten energy."
They will be checked by a vet, kept up to date with their flea and worm treatments, and microchipped. Four weeks' of free pet insurance will be available to their new owners.
