A man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a crash in which an 18-year-old woman was seriously injured.

The 55-year-old motorist was also held on suspicion of drug driving and driving while unfit through drink.

The crash happened at a set of crossroads near Swanmore and Waltham Chase.

A silver-coloured Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a red Benelli Tornado motorcycle at the junction of Gravel Hill and Forest Road at 8.30pm on Tuesday, October 10.

A police spokesperson said: "The motorcyclist, an 18-year-old woman from Havant, was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

"The driver of the Astra, a 55-year-old man from Wickham, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and drug driving.

"He has been released on bail until 11 January while enquiries continue.

"We are appealing for anyone with information about this collision to come forward to help our investigation. Did you see either vehicle in the area around the time of the collision yesterday?
