Police are investigating after a body was found on a Hampshire beach.
Officers were called to the foreshore at Eastern Parade in Portsmouth shortly after 6.30am today.
People have taken to social media after spotting police on the beach.
One person posted: "Looks like a very sad discovery just made by a dog walker."
A police spokesperson added: "We were called at 6.39am today to a report that a body had been located on the beach on Eastern Parade in Portsmouth.
"Officers have attended the scene and remain there at the current time."
Police officers have been spotted on Southsea beach.
Posting online one person said: "Looks like a very sad discovery just made by a dog walker."
Hampshire police have been contacted for more information.
