A developer is drawing up plans to turn a vacant building opposite Southampton Crown Court into 21 one-bedroom flats.
Salisbury-based Aycer Homes wants to convert a property at 8-9 College Place.
The ground floor was occupied by a firm called ATOS, which vacated the building on June 30 2023. The rest of the building was used by Warner Goodman Solicitors, which moved out on May 21 2023.
In a letter to the city council, Achieve Town Planning and Urban Design, says: "My client seeks to take advantage of the new permitted development rights, introduced by the government, to convert this building's floorspace into 21 one-bed residential flats.
"The property is located in a highly sustainable location within Southampton's defined city centre, with good access to all amenities and facilities close by."
