KLM plans to add an evening flight to its daily service between Southampton and Schiphol, starting in the spring.

The evening service will begin on March 31, delivering more choice and flexibility for business and leisure passengers looking to connect with one of Europe’s busiest hub airports.

It will also complement the morning and evening services already operated by KLM from Southampton daily.

Christopher Tibbett, head of airline relations and marketing for Southampton Airport, said: "The addition of this evening service is fantastic news as we continue to deliver growth and improved connectivity for Southampton and the wider region.

"The additional service will be welcomed not only by passengers travelling to the Dutch capital, but also by those wishing to travel globally to one of 332 direct destinations in 97 countries served by the one of Europe’s most popular hub airports."

This is the latest additional service to be added following the completion of the £17m runway extension in August last year.

Since the 164m extension was finished, services to Glasgow and Belfast have commenced while flights to Mallorca, Alicante and Faro have been announced for this summer.
