Fareham Borough Council is encouraging residents to check if they can benefit from a £150 rebate on their energy bills.

The help is available to over three million households in the UK on low incomes, through a central government scheme, for those most at risk of fuel poverty.

Though residents eligible for the rebate should receive it automatically - applied to electricity bills between October 2023 and March 2024 – others may be sent a letter asking them to confirm their details so they can have their eligibility checked.

Councillor Seán Woodward, Executive Leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: “While most eligible residents will receive this rebate on their energy bills automatically, I encourage anyone who thinks they may be eligible to contact the helpline.

"Fuel poverty can be a huge issue, especially as temperatures plummet at this time of year, so £150 can make all the difference.”

Fareham Borough Council has stated that residents qualify for this rebate if they either get the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit or are on a low income and have high energy costs.
