Sky television presenter Hayley Palmer, who is based in Fareham, shares her tips...

I thought I’d share my tips on how I navigate my mindset and body through the dark cold February days!

Does anyone else find it a struggle to get out of bed? It can be a challenge that's for sure, but hopefully some of my tips will help you.

Ways to keep motivated in the dark mornings: Get moving!

It has to be my number one tip – and this could consist of a run around the block or just gentle stretches, it's a natural way to boost your energy levels and increase your mood.

Listen to your favourite song

I've always loved music, and for me it definitely improves my mood by putting some good upbeat tunes on – in fact I've got a morning playlist, and it's just the tonic.

Health tips of the week: Take time to relax

I always think a good tip is to schedule relaxing time into your week.

That means coming off your social media and email and taking time for you.

This could include meditation, sleep, or simply taking some alone time.

Get out in nature

Yes, I know it's so cold at the moment and it's easy to keep warm in front of the TV with a cup of tea, however being outdoors can raise serotonin levels and positively impact your sleep cycle.

Going one step further than this my favourite thing to do is cold sea swimming down in Hillhead or Southsea, but I think I'll hold on until Easter time for this. (I'm not quite brave enough yet!)

What you can do this week

Making a ‘gratitude list’ can really help you focus on what you have rather than a lack.

This can help in an improvement in mood, and a reduction in anxiety.

I try to write down five things I'm grateful for in the morning and five things I'm grateful at night-time.
