A driver who was clocked at 55mph on the M27 has been hit with points and a fine. 

Timothy Guntert was caught by an automatic speed camera driving at 55mph between junctions ten and nine of the M27. 

He was driving a Ford when he was caught near Fareham on March 16 last year.

A 40mph variable speed limit was in place at the time. 

Guntert, 64, pleaded guilty to a single count of exceeding a variable speed limit at Southampton Magistrates' Court. 

He was ordered to pay a £100 fine and received three points on his licence. 

Guntert, of Penny Lane, Emsworth must also pay a £40 surcharge in full by March 31.
