Road safety campaigners are celebrating a dramatic reduction in the number of fatal animal accidents in the New Forest.
New figures show that only one animal was killed on Forest roads in the first three months of this year - thought to be a record low.
Free-roaming animals in the district are owned by people known as commoners - villagers with the right to let their livestock graze the landscape.
New Forest Roads Awareness is one of several organisations working to reduce the number of collisions.
A spokesperson said: "The commoners of the New Forest can say we have a record beating result on livestock accidents.
"In the first three months of 2024 only one animal has lost its life on roads within the Forest. This is surreal for all commoners and we want it to continue.
"We have to thank every driver, company, and visitor who has spread our messages. Without your support we wouldn't be where we are now."
