A father and son have denied their part in an incident where a man was hospitalised after a crash involving a van in Southampton.

Alan Clarke pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent after the incident in Ellwood Close.

His son, Jamie Clarke, denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm at a hearing at Southampton Crown Court on Friday.

It follows an incident where a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with bruising and injuries to his face after a man collided with a flatbed van.

He was found by paramedics and police on Hinkler Road, a 10-minute walk from Ellwood Close.

He has since been discharged from hospital.

The incident at 12.13am on March 5 followed reports of an altercation between three men outside an address.

Alan Clarke, 46, of Spring Road was given bail conditions to live and sleep each night at an address in Derbyshire with a curfew.

He cannot enter Hampshire apart from for court hearings.

His son, Jamie Clarke, 25, has been bailed with conditions to live and sleep at Ellwood Close, Southampton with an electronically monitored curfew.

The case is next due to be heard on November 25 at Southampton Crown Court.

A trial date has been set for December 9, this year.
