A Southampton Football Club fan has been reunited with their ticket for the team’s trip to Wembley on Sunday for the Championship playoff final against Leeds United.

Ema Barker, 33, of Shirley, was wrongly sent a matchday ticket – meant for Jason Neale – in the post and appealed to the Echo to help raise awareness of the unique cast of mistaken identity.

Fortunately for Ema, Jason, 51 – who lives in Yeovil – and his 22-year-old son Joseph, saw the appeal with the latter collecting the ticket on his dad’s behalf from the Echo offices, two days before the big day.

Daily Echo:

Joseph told the Echo: “My dad has been following Saints a lot longer than I have.

“It’s really special because it will be his first time seeing the team at Wembley – actually it will be the first time for both of us – we’ve been desperate to go so we’re really excited.

“The fact we thought we’d lost the ticket and managed to be reunited with it means the world.”

He added: “More than anything now we want to see Saints promoted back to the Premier League, hopefully it will be a memorable day.”
