A Southampton eatery has temporarily withdrawn an application to make greater use of its outdoor seating area by extending the opening hours.

Uni Kebab in Burgess Road had asked the city council to scrap a condition imposed when planning permission for the facility was granted.

The condition says the covered seating area must not be used after 11pm, Monday to Saturday, and 10pm on Sundays.

Uni Kebab had sought consent to keep it open until midnight every day.

Its application said: "The seating area has been designed and implemented in a manner that minimizes noise levels and potential disturbance to nearby residents. Removing the restrictions will not result in a significant increase in noise levels.

"Allowing [its] use beyond the current hours will provide significant economic and social benefits to the community. It will enable customers to enjoy outdoor seating during extended hours, fostering a vibrant and attractive atmosphere in the vicinity.

"This, in turn, will support local businesses, promote social interaction, and contribute to the overall vitality of the area.

"We are confident the proposed change will not compromise the amenities of nearby residential properties, and it will contribute positively to the local economy and social fabric."

The council's planning portal says the application was withdrawn earlier this month.

But a Uni Kebab spokesperson said the application would be resubmitted using a new agent.
