A thriller filmed in Southampton and given its world premiere in the city is gaining new fans after being released on a streaming platform.

The cast and crew of Bitter Revenge gathered on the red carpet in July 2025 before its world premiere at the Harbour Lights Picturehouse in Ocean Village.

Directed and co-written by award-winning film-maker Isaac Lawrence, 27, Bitter Revenge is now streaming on Tubi.

One of Isaac’s other movies, A Requiem for Desire, starring former model Melinda Messenger, recently premiered on Apple TV and Prime Video. Actor Sophie Karl co-directed it and also stars in Bitter Revenge.

Sophie's other credits include Ghoul Squad, The R.I.P. Man and the TV series Rogue Heroes.

In Bitter Revenge, she plays a woman who pretends to fall for the man responsible for her sister’s death so she can take revenge on his family at their upcoming reunion.

But she may not know the full story.

Part of the 80-minute movie was shot inside Isaac’s parents’ house in Bitterne, while woodland scenes were filmed at the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley Abbey. Other locations included the Portswood branch of Mettricks.

Speaking at the premiere, Isaac said: “Filming was a challenge and it was intriguing to step outside of my comfort zone, but we’re so happy that we’ve been able to share the film for the first time.

“The film was shot over nine days but it took about eight months from when we first started writing it.”

Bitter Revenge cost £3,000 to make, with almost a third raised through crowdfunding.

It premiered 11 months after Isaac’s .

Following the release of Bitter Revenge, Isaac said: "It’s been a phenomenal effort by everyone involved to get the film made.

“There’s a lot of work that goes into everything behind the scenes and now it’s quite nice to have some spare time again.”

The 24-member cast includes Xander Phillips, Georgia Viero, Martin W. Payne and Jack Hyde. Hayden Davey composed the soundtrack.

A Requiem for Desire stars Adam Deacon, an award-winning actor, writer, and director. His credits include the lead role in Anuvahood, which won him the prestigious BAFTA Rising Star Award.
