FUNDRAISERS donned frilly shirts and breeches to take part in a charity cricket match Georgian style. Dressed in the period equivalent of cricket whites and armed with a questionable set of rules, volunteers took to the crease to raise money for a host of good causes.
The match organised by English Heritage provided memorable entertainment for onlookers at Portchester Castle. In the end the hotly-contested match was won by the English Heritage team clinching victory over the local Portchester squad by one run in the last over.
English Heritage spokesman Jane Lawrence said: "It was a thoroughly entertaining match, which in the end proved to be very close."
