YOUNG Basingstoke cricket star Mitchell Stokes has been picked to play for West of England Schools under-15 in the West Indies next Easter.
The 14-year-old Cranbourne pupil (pictured) now has to raise £1,500 to go on his dream trip and he has been given a great boost by Barclays Asset Finance who have dominated £500 to his fund.
The tour will take the team to Barbados, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago where they will play other district under-15 sides.
Last season Stokes who lives at Frances Road near May's Bounty, the home of Basingstoke and North Hants cricket club where he started last season playing for the fourth team and ended it playing for the seconds.
He also played last season for Hampshire under-15 and under-16 and has received a scholarship from Maj Ron Ferguson for the Dummer Indoor Cricket Centre.
Mitchell's father Paul said: "There is no doubt this will be a trip of a lifetime and I would like to thank a few people which have already helped like Barclays Asset Finance, Candle, GL Print, Upali Wickremeratne, Rod Eversfield, Paul and Karen Darmody and Basingstoke and North Hants Cricket Club.
