THE Hampshire Schools cricket Association have signed a lucrative sponsorship deal worth £35,000 for the coming season.

The deal with Scotthall BMW, Aztec Computers, Sportsmatch and the Perry-Lewis Memorial Trust, was finalised last week and will be used to meet the objectives set out by the Hampshire Cricket Board and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Their aims are to introduce young people to the game of cricket, to promote a vibrant club game and to ensure the progression and development of young cricketers.

Each of the five districts - north Hants, east Hants, south-east Hants, New Forest and Winchester - ran development centres throughout the winter in conjunction with the county club and almost 700 players received top quality coaching. Each group goes on to form a squad to play in the inter-district competitions later this summer. In addition, all county players have been kitted out with shirts, sweaters and track-suits.
