The Hampshire cricket Board has announced the appointment of four new community cricket coaches.
Simon Hammond, Richard Hindley, Ross Hunter and Chris Wheeler are based in the New Forest, south-east Hants, north Hants, and Winchester districts respectively.
One of their principal responsibilities is to help cricket clubs form long term and sustainable links with the schools in their locality.
"This is an exciting time for grassroots cricket across Hampshire," said Hampshire cricket development manager Clive Surry.
"We recognised the biggest difficulty for clubs in building school links was in finding volunteer coaches available during the day.
"We are hoping the community coaches will solve this problem by coaching in schools in curriculum time and at after- school clubs."
All four coaches are heading a new initiative to promote girls cricket across the county. Each district has identified 20 talented girls to receive specialist coaching over a six-week period.
The coaches will also be leading holiday coaching events held at The Rose Bowl and around the county for children between 8-15.
