POLICE have arrested a Hampshire man who is Liam Gallagher’s bodyguard on suspicion of threatening to kill a former business partner.
Steve Allen, who was part of Oasis’s entourage when they performed the first ever music concert at the Rose Bowl cricket ground, is accused of sending bullets in the post to two people due to give evidence against him in a civil court case.
Officers confirmed that the 41-year-old married father-of-five was arrested at his home near Southampton and has been bailed.
An investigation was launched after Sam Berry and his girlfriend Claire Humphries allegedly received threatening letters with bullets in them at their homes in Worcestershire.
The bodyguard, who has been Liam’s minder, friend and business partner for more than ten years, has already been forced to pay out more than £54,000 to Mr Berry over a dispute involving a firm they jointly owned called Risks Contained.
Mr Berry has three further civil cases lodged at Redditch County Court against Mr Allen and his company.
A spokesman for Hampshire police said: “Hampshire police arrested a man on suspicion of threats to kill and he has been bailed to return to a West Mercia police station.”
Mr Allen is the managing director of three of Liam’s companies – clothing brand Pretty Green, film company Savile Row Films and production company In 1 Productions.
As well as Oasis, he has worked for Led Zeppelin, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem, Blur and Pulp.
Oasis played to 35,000 people at the Rose Bowl in July 2005.
