IT will be an old fashioned family day to celebrate the Queen’s 60 year reign – and it is free.
Residents in Netley Abbey have got together to host a Netley Knees Up.
Hundreds are expected to go along to the event on Monday, June 4 at the cricket field in Netley Abbey.
From face paintings for the little ones to an afternoon tea dance for more than 100 of the village’s older residents, there is something for all ages. And there is even Netley’s Got Talent, with performances from the area’s best – Simon Cowell take note!
The bash kicks off at 10.30am with a Jubilee Parade to make the Queen proud. It will start at Netley Abbey Infant School and the Royal British Legion and finish at the party site ready for the gates to open at midday.
Live acts, family games, a balloon release, Hamble brass band performance and a crown making competiton are all on the schedule of events.
The Netley Abbey beacon will be lit at 10pm as part of the network across the UK to celebrate the Queen’s magnificent reign.
Organiser Mark Dallimore said: “We are going to have a good old fashioned family fun day. It is about community spirit and bringing our communities together and celebrating the Diamond Jubilee with a wide age range of residents who span the 60 years and beyond.”
