FRONTMAN Danny Ings has issued a message to Saints fans via social media having this week left the club to join Aston Villa.

The England international sealed a shock £30million move to the Midlands on Wednesday night, having only had one year remaining on his deal at St Mary’s.

Posting on Instagram on Friday night, the former Saints star said: “It has been an honour to represent my hometown club and I wanted to thank you for all the incredible support you have shown me since I walked through the door three years ago.

“I hope I’ve managed to repay you with my performances on the pitch, as it was special for me and my family every time I pulled on the shirt.

“Thank you. Danny”
