With the January transfer window about to come to an end, Saints will need to be looking to add to their squad.

With the arrivals of Mislav Orsic from Dinamo Zagreb, Carlos Alcaraz from Racing Club and James Bree from Nathan Jones’ former club Luton Town, these additions add a bit of much needed depth and flair to the side, but what are the Saints still missing?

We asked fans how they are feeling.

With Che Adams only hitting eight goals this season a new frontman could be essential to survival, and at the same time give Adams the competition he needs.

Deadline Day Live: Updates on Southampton ins and outs

Earlier in the window there was a rumour that striker Moussa Dembele was on his way to St Mary’s but those quickly fizzled out.

Andy Read said: “We need Dembele in, then it’s the perfect window.”

Armando Broja was another name thrown around the hat, a return to the South Coast at one point looked possible but never happened.

Glen Olsen said: “Put a £40 million offer in for Broja.”

This, however, was quickly shut down as another fan pointed out that he’s still recovering from an ACL injury and won’t feature for the rest of the campaign.

Despite it only being Sport Republic’s first season in charge, and having spent well over £60m, there is still a lot of negativity from the fans when it comes to transfer business.

One of the most interacted with comments was from Karen Smith, who said: “Got a feeling it will be another Gakpo situation, we will be after several players but end up with no one!”

In response to this, Steve Sach said: “Everyone we’re linked with is suddenly linked with everyone else, going to be a long day, let’s hope they do the business and go for it.”

Jonathan Ward said: “Not hopeful. We lack firepower and it looks like it won’t change this window. We better pray for fouls around the opposition box to give JWP a chance of keeping us up.”

Some fans are agitated about the lack of action and how late it has been left to bolster the squad this window.

Jeff Goundry said: “Why do we always leave things so late?”

Matt Dobson said: “Plenty of time to secure a decent striker but left it for the last minute”.

Geoff Thompson added: “Just hope we get the deals done, but why wasn’t this done last week?”

While Sid Snott said: “Not confident in the owners or board to bring in what we need to stay in the league.”

With just over 12 hours left of the window, a cloud of uncertainty is looming over the South Coast, as today could be a pivotal turning point in the season.

If there are no acquisitions it might turn in to a very long day, if not a long season at St Mary’s.
