Flying high! That’s Hursley Park, who top the Southern Electric Premier League Division 2 table and are one win away from reaching the national Village Cup county final.

They boast the only unbeaten record in SPL, having dropped only six bonus points in their four straight wins over Paultons, United Services, Calmore Sports and Sparsholt, which have given them an 11-point lead over Basingstoke & North Hants at the top.

Raman Prendergast has already produced two match winning knocks against Pautons and Sparsholt, while 140-run Australian Jamie Eccles has also produced some good early season form.

Nick Wheeler, one of the most improved local cricketers on the circuit, has already picked up ten wickets, while gloveman Matt Branford has snared ten victims behind the stumps.

Results Round 1: Paultons 155 (White 50, Wheeler 5-24, Green 3-27) Hursley Park 156-6 (21) (Prendergast 82*, Eccles 28). Hursley Park won by 4 wickets.

Round 2: United Services 215-9 (Dom Carson 64, Oliver 5-29) Hursley Park 187-8 (target score 184, 38 overs) (Cook 60, Eccles 39, McDermott 29*). Hursley Park won by two wickets.
