SCORES of music lovers headed to a Southampton record store for a special event on Saturday.

Bands including Bobby Lovejoy, Minister, The Dead Freights, Fever, Cassava and Palm Honey graced Oxfam Music Store on East Street for Record Store Day.

Fans packed into the store for the special day of activities.

Music lover James Hill, who attended the event, said: "Record Store Day is all about supporting your local store and that is exactly what Oxfam has done. It was a great event and I, and everyone else, really enjoyed themselves.

"The bands were also cracking as well. It was a really fun event."

Record Store Day is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture.

Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion. Thousands more shops celebrate the day around the globe in what’s become one of the biggest annual events on the music calendar.
