CIVIC chiefs are spending £80,000 improving a town’s bowling facilities.
Councillors approved to dedicate £80,000 of developer contributions to a replacement artificial bowling green at Fleming Park, in Eastleigh.
A council report at the Eastleigh Local Area Committee, part of Eastleigh Borough Council, said the current facility is coming towards the end of its life and is very popular.
It recommended setting aside £80,000, which would cover any repairs to the concrete base, importing new sand and staff time to manage the project, but it is hoped that the cost could be less once the contract goes out to tender.
