STAFF at a Southampton store will roll up their sleeves to clean a popular beach front.
Employees at Marks & Spencer in WestQuay will descend on Weston Shore next month as part of this year’s Big Beach Clean-up initiative.
The event is hosted in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society and will take place on April 28.
People living in the city are also invited to take part in the litter picking.
The incentive forms part of the high street chain’s M&S Forever Fish campaign, which is funded by profits from the 5p carrier bag charge in its food halls.
Sacha Berendji, director of retail at M&S, said: “Our Big Beach Clean-up 2013 exceeded all expectations and made a significant impact on local communities. This year our beaches and canals, and in turn our marine life, need us and our volunteers more than ever. It’s a fun, outdoor activity and I’m confident we can surpass last year’s litter haul. And, as an incentive, there’s a £5 money-off voucher for every customer that gets involved.” To register your interest, visit mcsuk.org/forevervish.
