PLANS to demolish buildings at a site in Southampton have been turned down.

Southern Gas had applied to knock down two gasholders and buildings at the gas holder site in Britannia Road.

But city council planners have turned down the application.

A most insightful news article. Yes, the council have turned the planning application down. Being a newspaper, you would hope they would explain *why* the application was turned down. You need look no further than the Soton City Council Planning portal.

Application number 14/00696/DPA. Reason for decision: Lack of Information.
1- Contaminated land - insufficient detail given as to how that will be handled.
2- Demolition Method - insuffient detail given on certain aspects of the demolition works.
3- Restoration of the Site. Insifficient details given on how the site will be restored and an agreed timescale.

That took less than 5 mins to find out, and I'm not paid by Newsquest!
