A WOMAN is being treated for “life changing injuries” after having what is believed to be acid thrown into her face.
The 22-year-old woman was admitted to hospital in the early hours of today where she was treated for facial burns after an incident in Sandown on the Isle of Wight.
In a statement from Hampshire police Det Insp Floyd Higginson said the burns were thought to have been inflicted by “a corrosive liquid”.
Two women had been arrested in connection with the incident and were last night being questioned by officers.
A 48 year old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing Grievous Bodily harm with intent while a 24-year-old woman was being questioned on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Det Insp Higginson said the incident was thought o be an isolated one and that no one else was being sought in connection with their investigation.
After initial treatment the victim was subsequently been transferred to a specialist burns unit.
