A CRASH between a car and heavy goods vehicle is causing delays on a major motorway.

The collision, between a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white heavy goods vehicle, happened at about 4.20pm near junction three of the southbound M271 at Lordshill.

Ambulance services are at the scene and it is reported that the central reservation was also damaged in the crash.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said that it appeared the two vehicles collided before the Vauxhall Corsa hit the central reservation.

There were no reports of any injuries and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Hampshire Police on 101.

Just for clarification, the M271 doesnt have a Junction 3 and the M271 runs southbound toward Redbridge.
Having checked Google Maps it is showing very heavy traffic Northbound M271 toward Junction 3 so I'm guessing this is where the problem is and not as reported in the badly written story above.
And before everybody shouts at me, yes I do hope that all involved are OK being linked to the emergency services myself, I just wanted to point out that anybody reading this as Breaking News will be getting the wrong info

Thank you for putting us in the picture. It seems the DE readers have more information than the reporters!

Tricky one this. Technically the M271 also runs north from the M27 for one junction, meaning that it is one of a very few motorways to have a roundabout on it. To back this up there are no signs saying that the M271 becomes an A road just before the M27 motorway in either direction. Any which way it is extremely badly labelled and a very poor example of a motorway.
