POLICE investigating the murder of a Southampton dad have charged a man with conspiracy to supply class A drugs and arrested another.

A nationwide manhunt with a £10,000 reward continues after Michael Freshwater’s murder in April.

The body of Mr Freshwater, a father of four known as Micky, was found at an address in Westridge Road, Portswood, at around 4.15pm on April 29.

Now officers have charged 25-year-old Jammoy Bent, of no fixed abode, with conspiracy to supply class A drugs. He has been held on remand and is due to appear at Southampton Crown Court on August 5.

Police have also detained a 28-year-old man from Southampton on suspicion of assisting an offender, conspiracy to supply class A drugs and money laundering.

It brings the number of arrests to 13, but the prime suspect is still on the loose.

Kevin Suika appeared on the BBC’s CrimewatchCrimewatch programme last month as the Metropolitan Police joined Hampshire officers in tracking him down.

The 23-year-old is described as black, 5ft 7in, of proportionate build with a tattoo on his left arm that reads: “Work like a slave, eat like a king.”

He has links with Holloway in North London, Bromley and Kent.

Appealing for help in May, grieving partner Jenny Downey said: “I still can’t accept he’s gone and still expect to see him walking through the front door with a big smile on his face, or planting new flowers in the garden which he enjoyed doing so much.

“I know I won’t ever get over this, I just want him back. And I just want to know what happened and get justice for something that is so, so cruel.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting Operation Windless. Independent charity Crimestoppers continues to offer a £10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the culprits.
