RUMOUR MILL, May 22 - Saints keen on Swansea left back Taylor?

Daily Echo: Swansea left back Neil Taylor Swansea left back Neil Taylor

SAINTS have today been linked with a move for Swansea's Welsh international left back Neil Taylor.

The 25-year-old, a Great Britain Olympic squad colleague of Saints' Jack Cork two years ago, was the subject of a £4m bid by Fulham last January.

Taylor is the second left back Saints have been linked with recently, as speculation continues that Luke Shaw is heading to Manchester United.

Saints have are also reportedly keen on Nice's Timothée Kolodziejczak.

We need cover for Shaw at left back. Perhaps Taylor is the man for the job.

How about a cheeky bid for Ashley Cole as back up for Luke? It doesn't look like he's staying at Chelsea and Saints has got to be a good proposition for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he went to America though for one final big pay day in the NASL.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, 22nd May is on Thursday. Today is Tuesday - or is this Thursday's headline released 2 days early? I'm confused.

A good article Echo. I do believe a solid left back like Taylor or Cresswell or may be Flanagan is good business as long as the rest of the dosh is invested in a striker and centre back as well.
Yes Shaw is a gem and I do not want him to go but look at the stats - no goals and only one assist.
30M gets Taylor, Caulker and Bony – just saying. COYR.

I've got a piece of interesting news from France. Schneiderlin gave an interview to the French press yesterday and got a couple of questions about transfers and Champions League. (http://www.lequipe.

es/Schneiderlin-le-g
raal-du-footballeurs
/466660)

It kind of seemed like Lovren's response, as it was along the lines of "I've still got 3 years on my contract at Saints. I've heard about the speculation but it's down to the club to decide. I know they're in a stable financial position, but it's down to them and if the moment comes I'll have to decide what is best for me and my future"

And about the Champions League it was along the lines of: "Yes, of course I'd love to play in the CL and be in a side who are challenging for CL football, but I'm not going to force the issue."

The players seem pretty put, but with their cautious attitudes it does look like they are waiting on the board and Poch to reach an agreement. Spiders also spoke very highly of Poch in the same interview "j’ai vraiment pris mon pied" (=I've really enjoyed myself ).

By June Poch will have a new contract, no first team player will leave and by the start of next season we'll have a couple of talented players come in. Simplez. :)

They have excelled themselves this time. Always good to look ahead, Perhaps we could have the top story for say August 16th 2014
By then England will have won the world cup, Saints will have spent £50million on players to get us into the champions league and no doubt Utd will still be putting up bids for Shaw.
If Carlsberg were in charge ....

How depressing, if this is true and not more press rubbish, despite all the talk, we are a mid table selling club. If the ambition is to progress SFC would retain Shaw and not buy an inferior cut price replacement.

I.don't think the guy is good enough
Is this going to be another good signing by Les Reed ?
After his statement the other week saying he is responsible for all transfers I am surprised he is still in a job with all the poor buy's he has made.
Apart from Jay and Lovren how many of his big money signings have been a success?
I know Wanyama has shown signs , but for 12 million he should be doing it every game.

Did anyone watch the under 21s England v Wales game last night? The England left back was a lad called Luke Garbutt outstanding. As good as if not better than Shaw. He's only just come on the scene in the 21s would love to see him at Saints.

Luke is worth £45m (calculated as 18yr to 33yrs = 15 seasons @ average £3m/season for his quality)
Therefore a player as cover for injury/suspension to Luke @ £4m seems reasonable to me.
