LANGLOIS Sylvia Daphne SRN, SCM, QN Sylvia passed away peacefully on October 14th 2017 following a lengthy illness. She will be remembered as a dedicated nurse and midwife having worked for a number of years as the district midwife in Botley, Senior Sister on the Neonatal Unit in Southampton and the Manager of the Labour Ward and Neonatal Unit in Bradford. Sylvia began her nursing career as a probationer in 1951 and commenced nurse training in 1953 at The Royal London Hospital. She went on to undertake her midwifery training at Queen Charlottes hospital in London. In 1959 Sylvia joined the navy as a Queen Alexandra Royal Naval Nurse where she spent 4 happy years. Sylvia was a woman of deep faith who lived a full and happy life. She had many friends and godchildren. Her generosity, inspiration to work hard, to travel and to be a friend when it really matters will live on in the hearts of many. Sylvia will be sadly missed by her nephew, Neil and his wife Emma in Adelaide Australia and by her many friends. Sylvia's funeral will take place on Monday November 6th at 1.30 pm at the Catholic Church of Our Lady of The Assumption, 1 Freegrounds Road, Hedge End. Cremation will follow at the Wessex Vale crematorium, Bubb Lane, West End. Sylvia was a founder member of the Neonatal Unit Charity Fund in The Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton and it would therefore be appropriate for any donations in Sylvia's memory to be given to this worthy cause.
