SELF-TAUGHT singer-songwriter Michael Seed first picked up a guitar one year ago after being inspired by musical legends such as Neil Young and Bob Dylan.

The 31-year-old from Latchford taught himself how to play using books and began writing his own songs six months' ago.

A PC support analyst by day, he has since secured gigs in Warrington and Liverpool and describes his music as having an indie/folk sound in the same vein as his heroes Dylan and Young.

Currently unsigned, he gained recognition when his songs 'Shotgun Town' and 'Different Day' received airply on Liverpool Community Radio's 'The Orange Show'.

"I entered the Hotwired Music Competition because I wanted to see whether audiences like my music and sound, said Mr Seed, who has no ambition to make music his main career but says he plays "just for fun."

"I know people who have played at the Parr Hall and wanted to see if I could too.

"I enjoy playing live and would like my music to be appreciated - even if just one person shows interest.

"If people like my music then they should vote. I’m all about the music – it’s not a popularity contest."
