A LAVENDER business in Hampshire has just taken the wraps off an unusual new shop that creates 14 new jobs.

Alresford’s Long Barn, which makes products from 10 acres of Lavender farm, has built a new two-storey oak barn with traditional techniques.

Held together with 5,000 wooden pegs, it houses a new store selling Long Barn’s range of soaps and fragrances. As well as adding two extra acres of lavender, the barn has allowed them to expand into anything from garden tools and glassware to lavender-scented biscuits.

The barn, which is an addition to their East Street shop, prides itself that many of its products come with a “Made in Alresford” label.

It’s the brainchild of Long Barn founder, Richard Norris, pictured, and director, Jane Marsden. The pair are keeping the cost of the project under wraps, saying only it cost six figures.

Jane said: “It’s an amazing feeling now that it’s all come together, as in the last few days it was absolutely manic, but now we can take a step back and admire it.”
