AIR France, which runs flights to Paris from Southampton Airport, is to take on the low fare air giants with its new ‘Voyageur’ class cabins.
Air France bosses are adamant that it’s not a low fare service, and say that “the essentials” will remain.
However, the service, which launches in April next year, is targeted at passengers looking for “greater simplicity and clarity and more affordable fares”.
The airline will also operate a ‘Premium’ cabin service along its traditional lines.
Voyageur class offers free hold baggage up to 23kg, choice of seat at check-in, choice of newspapers, catering adapted to the flight time, and designated counters for customers requiring assistance.
Customers can also specify a window or aisle seat free of charge, and have their boarding pass sent to them by email.
