A FARM has objected to the closure of a notorious ford across the River Itchen near Alresford.
Grange Farm Partnership uses the ford daily and opposes the county council’s plan to shut it to vehicles.
The farm’s objection has stalled the application for a traffic regulation order, according to Tichborne Parish Council.
The parish wants the structure of the ford to be maintained properly by the county council. It has suggested that temporary “road closed” signs again be placed at both ends of the lane to deter drivers, especially those who rely on satnav devices to guide them. The signs were recently removed by the county.
