A Southampton-based IT firm has more than doubled profits on the back of new contract wins in a record-breaking year.
Amicus ITS, which manages the technology behind the out-of-hours NHS Direct Service for one fifth of the UK population, has picked up six contracts for the new NHS 111 urgent care line among other healthcare contract wins.
The company has also won contracts with double-glazing firm Everest for IT support services to its UK-wide sales, support and installation teams, and with global healthcare device manufacturer Creganna Tactx, to provide services to Ireland, California, Singapore and Minnesota.
Amicus ITS reported annual turnover from its managed IT services topped £16million for the past year while profits increased by 250 per cent.
It has also hired an extra 30 staff to take its workforce to 150.
Amicus ITS managing director, Steve Jackson, said: “I am very optimistic with the outlook for 2012/13 and the opportunities we have in front of us and am looking to grow the company by another 20 per cent.”
Amicus ITS is part of the Harmoni Group of companies, which employs 2,000 people across the UK and India.
