WITH ninety-six professional cyclists racing through the streets of Hampshire there was only one casualty - a police motorcyclist.
He fell off his motorbike after misjudging a bend in the road and fell into a hedge at the junction of Tanners Lane and Embley Lane at Wellow, near Romsey.
Eyewitnesses described the motorbike falling to the right and the policeman rolling on to the road.
One onlooker, who took these pictures, said that as the police motorcyclist rode away he said 'It never happened.' A police spokesman said they could not comment because they could not be sure whether the police rider was from Hampshire police.
Yesterday's Tour of Britain event started in Reading and finished in Southampton with the cyclists arriving in Hoglands Park after their 87-mile journey.
