POLICE have raided a house in Hampshire as they step up the hunt to find who killed grandmother Georgina Edmonds.

Officers forced their way into the semi-detached home, on a busy main road, where four men are believed to live.

Throughout the weekend scenes-of-crime officers searched the four-bedroom property, its garden and the alleyway between the house and a neighbouring property.

The high-visibility search saw bins emptied and items removed in evidence bags while more house-to-house inquiries were carried out.

The occupants are understood to have been housed in temporary accommodation after giving statements to police. Detectives leading the hunt to find who murdered Mrs Edmonds at her cottage in Brambridge, near Otterbourne, more than two weeks ago said no arrests had been made.

I hope they find the people - its an isolated incident, its not every week something so bad happens. My thoughts go out to her family and friends.
P.S Nice comments Greg and Dave from Romsey! Having lived in Romsey for 25 years and Eastleigh for 5.... I can't say I've noticed the difference in class. (Dave, re: chavs - it takes one, to know one)

I agree with you Emma - I lived in Hedge End prior to Eastleigh and if anything I have found less evidence of chavs etc etc.. get down of your high horses people and have a look around. Seems its the same everywhere. Don't tar us all with the same brush !!!

Emma and Sue i think you need to open you eyes a little or even leave the house once in a while. Eastleigh if full of chavs trying to start trouble all the time. If you ever left you house a night you would see, if it's so nice why are they trying to close down all the pubs in Eastleigh??????

If you open your eyes Alan... you will probably find one pub close and another one open in Eastleigh.

Go out more Alan.. it isn't as dangerous as you think it is.

We moved away from Eastleigh 3 years ago and it was the best thing we ever did. Even one of the top coppers admitted that it was getting worse. Open your eyes !! bulldoze the place flat and start again !

I don't think you can pin point Eastleigh as going downhill, I think the whole of the country is!

On Sunday a guys body was found in an alley way over in Eastleigh...lets just hope there is not a looney on the rampage.

1 murder and a "suspicious" death within a five mile radius within about 2 weeks...can't say that happens in Eastleigh very often!!!

To Dave from Romsey,

I moved from Winchester to Eastleigh 15 years ago and find the people are much nicer than Winchester. As for Eastleigh being full of chavs I say you must be very narrow minded if you think that everybody that lives here is a chav and maybe you need to look at your own personality before entering an opinion.

I have lived in Eastleigh nearly all my life. When I moved here when I was 5 it was obviously much quieter with no issues. However that was 25 years ago. It is not Eastleigh that has changed, it is the British culture, and that change is nationwide.

Having lived in southampton, fareham, eastleigh and now Botley i think that i can speak from some experience gained over the years. Yes Eastleigh does have a high amount of chav;s but so what they aint all bad.The worst experience i have had in a long while was when i was returning home one evening on my m/bike and a car full of youngsters were racing another car through eastleigh they then parked up opposite the texaco garage and then started shouting and swearing at me for following them.Thankgoodness i managed to get their car reg's before riding off and reporting them to the police. We need more beat bobbies on our streets Not sat on their back sides near the motorway drinking coffee! May deepest condollances go out to the family of mrs edmunds who was recently murdered she was a lovely lady and will be very missed.

Mrs Edmunds (known as Mrs E to those who knew her) was a really lovely lady who always gave you the time of day. She was always smiling and cheery and did not deserve to die in such horrific circumstances. My heart goes out to her family and those that were really close to her. I just hope that they get the evil killer because we will not be happy until they are locked in prison for eternity.

Well im not from Hampshire and i think that the whole of southampton and surrounding areas are all Chavs including ROMSEY dave so why say things like that about your own county and ROMSEY is a proper dump i have been there once and never again, full of chavs

It's a shame that people are using this message board to fire comments at one another.

The comments regarding areas are rubbish and people need to think about the story and how horrible it must be for Mrs Edmonds family.

My heart goes out to all her family.

And for the comments above, stop bickering. I am sure that you are fully grown adults and insulting each other's area's is not the way to behave.

Takes one to know one. I haven't heard that phrase in 25 years.

At school the standard answer was "no, it's because I read about people like you".

I hope the PC in the photograph has to buy some cakes for her shift as pennance for appearing in the local rag looking like she purchased her uniform at the local fancy dress shop. Sort your hat out dear!

And before you start, I'm not like "Denzil" - I'm very, very pro-police and support them in everything they do. However, she's been caught out by the photographer and looks shoddy. That photo will be posted all over her nick by mick-taking collegues. CAKES!

Not impressed. You are clearly either Eastleigh's Inspector or a colleague.

It's a shame that people will comment more on the photo than the actually story, has anyone stopped to think that maybe the photographer just turned up and thrust the camera in their faces to try and catch them off guard. Police have a hard enough job as it is without having to cope with the local rag trying to get one over on them. I just hope the person/s concerned don't cry wolf when they need the police because eventually they will one day.

Maureen, I am neither the PC's Inspector or one of her colleagues. However, I whole heartedly agree with you comments with regards to the Police facing adversity where e'er they tread. Nice to hear some supportive comments on this site for once!

WELL, I JUST WONDER IF THE POLICE HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL EFFORTS TO SCOUR CCTV IN THE LOCAL AREAS, SHOPS ETC. I KNOW HOW TIME CONSUMING THIS IS BUT IM SURE THEY COULD FIND A BETTER CLEARER PICTURE OF HIM THAN THE ONE THEY ALREADY HAVE WHILST AT A CASH MACHINE? J.A. HYTHE
