Championship strugglers Coventry City have sacked manager Iain Dowie today.

The Sky Blues lie 19th in the table, just four points clear of the relegation zone, following Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Preston.

Another ex-Saint, Tim Flowers, who was Dowie's assistant manager, has also been shown the door at the Ricoh Arena, along with Dowie's brother Bob, who was another member of the backroom staff.

A statement on Coventry's official website said: "Iain Dowie, Tim Flowers and Bob Dowie have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect."
